I used to have a neighbour who was a docter and a gallery owner. Even knowing he was a stuborn man, I liked him.

One day we were having a discussion about art. He was doing a course on how to be a gallery owner, because he wanted to sell more, and in this course he was told, that art doesn't have to be beautiful.

I didn't like it! I hate ugly art. I think art should be pretty. It doesn't need to represent pretty things, but it has to be made crafty and pretty.

Murder is not pretty, but a painting that shows murder should be painted in a way that the viewer doesn't think, what an ugly painting. The viewer should think, murder is an ugly thing.

The same goes for rape, poverty, abuse....

I hate when I see what I call ''crap'' hanging somewhere, badly painted and only saying...this painting is ugly.

I don't understand how a bunch of rich folks manages to destroy the art scene with incredible bad works.

I don't understand how so many people walk behind them like the servants of the emperor without clothes in the fairy tale

I've heard it years ago from a well known illustrator and I feel it today, craftsmanship and talent is not appreciated.

Ugly Art killed the arts scene and made it again what it was before art became something people without money could do.

Something that is purely in the hands of the rich.

The new rich, opposite of the old rich, who liked beautiful things, don't even care what it looks like.

A painting or sculpture for them is just a product that gets stored in a basement as an investement product for money, something to use to avoid paying taxes and something to wash their dirty money clean.

Nobody tries to get good with it anymore because nobody cares. And because so much shit hangs in the museums nobody even cares no more....

A good salesman would say, you can sell anything, as long as you keep pushing it.

And they did! They pushed ugly meaningless shit with big fucked up ego's for a loooong time now.

And the only reason thy could keep pushing it, is because only money can buy time and space in the media.

I hate ugly art....
